Perl is Alive is a website for the Perl community. Perl is a programming language which both Digital Craftsmen and Shiny Ideas make extensive use of. It has a strong and active community around it, with people sharing code, ideas and support with each other. The Perl is Alive website is a resource which aims to provide useful information to those inside this community, and demonstrate the community's vitality to those outside of the community. The site publishes user-submitted news articles and case studies, and encourages readers to discuss each article in its integrated discussion forum.
While this particular site was built during my time at Digital Craftsmen, the code it runs on was originally written by me in 2003 as a personal project, and released as open source software. That project is now maintained by Steve Kemp from Debian Administration, who has continued to add new features and other improvements.
